All set for running: GymBoss with Sennheiser-Adidas 680i Earphones and iPod Shuffle

I do not need to expound the benefits of interval training whether with sprinting, kettlebells or other forms of training.

If there is ONE tool I absolutely must have with me, it will be my GymBoss. Here are the reasons why.

The trouble with planning a good interval workout is that in the midst of end of the work cycle, you are barely able to maintain good form, much less check the time and progress (in terms of distance, repetitions, sets).

Running

For example, when I do 400m sprints at 1min 30sec intervals, instead of setting a stopwatch and sprinting without any sense of my pace, I can set the GymBoss to beep/vibrate at 22 seconds so that each time I pass the goal post, or middle of the track, I get a general sense whether I am going too fast or too slow.

I can also use the GymBoss for long distance runs. I set it to 10mins beep, so I know the time I have been running without needing to check my watch.

Kettlebells / Gym Work

When it comes to kettlebells or gym work, I like how it guides me in pacing my breathing without having to keep count. I can do my jerks or cleans at a set time frame and number of repetitions without having to keep count. This allows me to focus purely on form and breathing.

Rock Climbing / Bouldering

Rock-climbers can also use it to mimic the competition environment when training alone. The GymBoss can be set at 3min 30sec and set to Vibrate only, while moving from one wall to another alternating between climbs and rest. This mimics competition and allows the arms to get used to rapid increase in lactic acid especially at the forearms. Your body will also learn to recover faster during rest. This is merely a suggestion.

Climbers can also use the GymBoss for their conditioning on the finger-board, by setting the work time and rest time.

Total Work Time: 28mins work (Repeat as necessary)

Extra

For students who are constantly on presentations, the GymBoss can be used to indicate the time spent. Personally, I set the GymBoss to 2 min block and vibrate only leaving it in my pocket, so I know how much time I have left before I hand it over to my groupmates. 2 GymBoss will work well for a group as they can switch to one another.

Where to buy it

With the US Dollar at an all time low and the Singapore Dollar doing strongly in financial markets now, there’s never a better time to buy it than now. With shipping included it will only cost SGD$30 max.

To get it, click on the banner at the top or bottom, then click “Buy”. There is a roughly 2 weeks waiting time.
